An Introduction Seems Appropriate

So this is blogging, huh? I must admit that starting a blog never would have crossed my mind if I hadn't ever decided on Journalism as my career of choice. It seems to me that blogging would be a logical way to practise writing, while still publishing something (it is good for the application process). So here I am.

With the faint hope of anyone ever reading this blog, I feel that a quick introduction seems appropriate. So here-goes... All that anyone needs to know is that I am a 22 year old man (can I say that at this age?) who lives in Western Canada. I have just recently finished the first of what looks to be many years of university education and, as previously stated, am hoping to earn a degree in Journalism. I am basically your typical, poor undergraduate with all the hopes and pains of anyone looking to make a start in the world. Like many people my age, I feel that I have a valid opinion but have no one around to listen or really even care. I suppose that is where the blog comes in.

So, after a solid half-hour of painstaking research on the do's and don'ts of blogging, I have learned that I actually am in need of some sort of plan for a blog. What am I going to write about? How often am I going to write? Well the truth is I really cannot tell. This really is an experiment for me as I usually stay away from blogs because I find that they are just a place for young teenagers to make fun of each other or for stay-at-home moms to tell everyone how stressful their lives are. I hope that this does not happen on my blog. My aim is to write at least once a week on topics that I find interesting. I am not here to give you an hourly report on how my day is going. I am not here to change anyone's opinions on anything. I am merely here to express my own thoughts and feelings. I appreciate any comments anyone has. Anyone willing to give some constructive criticism on my writing is encouraged to do so, as I am trying to improve my capabilities in this area as well. Please do not leave comments bashing my views. It is not constructive and you will most likely be ignored. However, if you leave a comment stating your views on the topic at hand, even if you do not agree with me, I am more likely to respond, and also more likely to check out your blog as well.

With that I will end my first blog post. This whole introduction seems a little funny now that I realize there is no one out there to read it. However, I realize that readers come with time, and I will continue my experiment in the hopes that somebody will listen. Goodbye for now!
